What 192kbps means
Bitrate measures how much audio data is stored per second. Instagram's own audio streams run around 128kbps; we encode at 192kbps and a 44.1kHz sample rate — the CD standard — so the MP3 preserves everything the source contained, with headroom to spare. Higher numbers beyond this point would only inflate file size without audible gain, because the detail was already lost upstream.
